Sticky Waterfall with Angel Waterfall Park and Wat Ban Den

The day trips that pair the Sticky Waterfall with Dantewada (Angel Waterfall Park), Wat Ban Den, rafting or an ATV: what each stop is, the order, the prices.

Updated November 2026

Angel Waterfall Park is Dantewada, sold as Land of Angels: a landscaped park near Mae Taeng with man-made waterfalls, gardens, caves and cafés, built for photos rather than climbing. The day trips that pair it with the Sticky Waterfall usually go there first, then drive about half an hour to Bua Tong. Add Wat Ban Den, a hilltop temple in Mae Taeng with blue roofs and twelve zodiac chedis, and you have the classic three-stop day. Others swap the park and the temple for whitewater rafting, an ATV or a zipline.

Where the three stops are

The three-stop day: Dantewada, Wat Ban Den, then the Bua Tong Sticky Waterfall, from Chiang Mai’s old city.

Dantewada and Wat Ban Den sit close together near Mae Taeng, on the north side of the area; the Sticky Waterfall lies to the south-east, off Highway 1001. A three-stop day is a loop of roughly 70 km by road before the drive home.

Dantewada, the Land of Angels

Dantewada is a garden park, not a natural waterfall: the falls are built and landscaped to look natural, with gardens, caves, cafés and a market. The day trips give it an hour to an hour and a half. It is the photo stop of the day; the Sticky Waterfall is where you get wet. Its cafés serve Thai and Western dishes, which matters on the trips that leave lunch out.

Wat Ban Den

Wat Bandensali Si Mueang Kaen, known as Wat Ban Den, stands on a small hill in Inthakhin subdistrict of Mae Taeng district. Tourism Authority of Thailand traces the name to the sacred cave under the hill, the sacred fig trees, sali, and the ancient town of Mueang Kaen. Elephant Welfare Sanctuary's day stops there for about 40 minutes, time for the blue roofs, the Lanna carving and the twelve chedis for the animals of the zodiac. It is a working temple: dress as for any temple in Thailand, with shoulders and knees covered.
